Alana and Mark’s wedding was absolutely breathtaking. The impeccable details, design and decor were pure magic. We are not surprised at all that it’s featured today by Wedluxe as part of their True Love, True Luxury wedding series. I’m so happy to finally be able to share some of the images from their special day and that many will get to enjoy them on the Wedluxe blog and Facebook page as well. It was a pleaure working alongside some incredible vendors: Makeup Worx, Candice and Alison Luxury Event Planners, Cake Opera Co, Susan Murray International, Sweet Peony Press, Dance Floor Decor and Creations by Gitta. We wish these two a lifetime of love and happiness!
It’s always an honour to be featured on other wedding blogs, especially ones that we really, truly LOVE! We have been fans of Style Me Pretty for years and it’s the only place we choose to pay for advertising for Love Madly because we believe that their Little Black Book of preferred/favourite vendors along with all of their local wedding blogs provide couples with beautiful and inspirational ideas to plan their perfect wedding.
A couple of weeks ago they featured the incredible and romantic wedding story of one of our couples, Linda + Mike, that we captured last summer along with Claudia Hung. It is still one of our all-time favourite wedding stories. This couple came all the way ‘home’ from California to say I do in a lakeside ceremony at Palais Royale in Toronto. You can check it out here:
Over the past 5 years we have had the opportunity to learn so many unique things about capturing wedding stories. We have had numerous conversations with fellow wedding professionals and many of our couples about ways to enhance the overall photo and cinema experience on such a memorable and important day. We began to compile a list over a year ago of tips and advice for our couples and then this past winter we decided it would be best to put all of this valuable information into a booklet and include lots of our own photos and video screen grabs to really explain and support the points we were trying to relay. We are so happy with the way this all came together and can’t wait to start sharing it with our upcoming 2013 couples and every new couple coming into the studio to meet with us for the first time. We know that this will be a valuable resource and will definitely make a difference in capturing so many amazing memories!
When we first skyped with Linda and Mike back in January it was freezing cold here, but it was just another balmy day for them at their home in sunny Los Angeles. It was during that initial conversation that they divulged a secret to us and asked us if we could help them. We were intrigued and of course excited. Linda and Mike were planning their upcoming wedding celebration in Toronto, which would happen in a few months’ time, they were flying up from California to their hometown in order to profess their love to each other in front of family and friends. What almost everyone present that June day didn’t know was that Linda and Mike were actually already married. The summer before they had eloped, drove up the California coast and were wed on the beach with less than a handful of guests. It was really important to Linda and Mike that the handheld footage captured by their friend during that first ceremony be incorporated into their feature film that we would be producing from their wedding footage here in Toronto. They said that if we didn’t think it fit not to worry, but if they could possibly have just one wedding film that encompassed both weddings that would truly be their perfect wedding film. When we watched the shaky, often under-exposed footage from that day we immediately got goosebumps. It felt so real, raw and organic. It took you back to that place and time and it really made us feel like we had been there on the beach with them that day. It also fit so perfectly with the footage that we shot almost a year later. This highlight film is one of my very favourite pieces we’ve ever created because to me it really does meld together two events into one story. It is the wedding story of Linda and Mike. Two warm and wonderful people who said we do twice to each other, in two separate countries, during two ceremonies that couldn’t be any more different from each other. Yet, one constant remains and that is their love and promises to each other.

On July 6th, 2013 we’ll be capturing Jennifer and Matt’s wedding story. We love this super cute, super fun Save the Date short clip we created for them to send out to all their friends and family! What a fun way to get everyone excited about your big day! We love the vintage concept and all the props they incorporated – thanks to Krista from KJ and Co for making everything truly perfect and for bringing their vision to life!

If I had to choose just one word to describe Lindsay and Josh it would be ‘sweet’. As individuals, and as a couple, they are kind, warm and so very thoughtful. Last summer when we met for the first time over skype we could immediately tell that their wedding story was going to match their personalities to a tee, and it certainly did! From the storybook style of their invitations to the rehearsal dinner to the morning preparations and every moment and detail of their wedding day, everything was perfect. When we heard Holley Maher’s newly released song “Perfect Day” a few months ago we knew that it would make the most amazing soundtrack to their highlight film. This was our first time at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville and it made for the most beautiful backdrop. Their ceremony was conducted by Lindsay’s godfather at Saint Mary of the Assumption church in downtown Huntsville. Every pew in the church was adored by the most beautiful floral arrangement and many of the locals believed that that Kate Hudson was tying the knot that day. My favourite moment of the day had to be when Lindsay and Josh first walked into the reception room and were just in awe of the decor and how everything had come together. Event Decorator did an incredible job, the three tiered room was breathtakingly elegant! We were so honoured to be a part of their wedding day and love the way their highlight film re-tells their story!

Alicia and Matt were married yesterday! Over the past year we have become great friends with these two beautiful people and we were so looking forward to capturing their wedding story. Alicia looked fabulous thanks to Monika from Makeup Worx and her hairstylist Serena from Studio 440. Her Alita Graham gown was breathtaking and was complimented by her sparkling Jimmy Choo shoes. I love that she wore her hair down all day and then had it up for the reception – two completely different looks for our stunning bride! It was an emotional day and we knew that Mattie wouldn’t be able to hold back the tears when he saw Alicia for the first time as she was escorted down the isle by her dad. Their love for each other is obvious to all those who spend even half an hour with them and from our very first meeting we knew that yesterday would be extra special. When Mattie came over to our table just before 8 pm to make sure we were all doing okay, that we had got a chance to eat, and to let us know that if we needed anything at all to just let him know, it was just another indication of how much these two take care of everyone in their lives. Their families treated us like family and their bridal party was super fun to be around the entire day! Liuna Station was beyond elegant with all the details and little touches that Alicia and her wedding planner Melissa from One Fine Day Event Planning and Design had put together. We were so impressed with the audio from DJ Emporium (which makes such a difference when we show our same day edits) and honestly, this has to be one of our favourite Same Day Edits – a true reflection of their magical wedding story… enjoy!

Jo and Aaron were married on June 9th in beautiful Port Carling, Ontario. We were so looking forward to our very first Muskoka wedding and it didn’t disappoint. When we arrived at the JW Marriott and checked in on the Friday afternoon we were already in love with the rustic nature that surrounded us. We headed over to The Rock where Aaron and his groomsmen were playing a round of golf and were able to follow them in our own cart on a couple of holes. The morning of the wedding day Jo’s mom Patty came to pick us up at the marina in one of the family boats and it was just starting to rain. As the clouds rolled in and the skies opened up we all wondered if it would clear up in time for the photo session and ceremony. Aaron had sent over a series of clues for his bride to try and figure out where they were going to be heading for their honeymoon. She started with a crossword and then a word scramble and a few others to keep her and her bridesmaids guessing all morning long. When the rain stopped just after noon we were all crossing our fingers that we had seen the last of it. After a very special first look on the family dock the bridal party and families headed out for the photo session at a nearby cottage where the grounds were breathtaking. The ceremony and reception were held at the country club in a large room that extended right out over the water and had beautiful windows all around. Everything was gorgeous and there was evidence of Jo and Aaron’s personalities in many of the details (many of which were put together by Patty herself). We were all thoroughly entertained by Signal Hill as they performed many classic hits and kept everyone dancing late into the night. With a few more Muskoka weddings coming up this summer we are excited to return to the north and we are equally excited to share the highlights from Jo and Aaron’s amazing, romantic, oh-so-beautiful wedding story!
