We pride ourselves in getting to know our couples. Just like every couple is different so are our wedding films; some are upbeat and energetic, some are romantic comedies, some are full in glitz and sparkle, and then there are ones that are so beautifully moving. It’s no secret that we LOVE Muskoka weddings because the scenery, no matter what time of year, is incredibly beautiful and lends itself to gorgeous, cinematic shots which match the romantic love story unfolding. Enjoy this snippet from the opening of our latest feature film. Lindsey and Bill came all the way from Humble, Texas to be married at the JW Marriot The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & SPA and we know they are going to love their film and photo collection. Let us know if you agree.

Meaghan and Brad were married yesterday at Hernder Estates, a lovely winery in Niagara. The day was everything a bride dreams of. We were there to capture not only the magical moments and all the special details of their wedding story, but also their true personalities and the unique connection they share. We love how their Same Day Edit all came together, it’s truly a reflection of them and their love story. Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness!

We first met Pam and Stephen last year when Pam’s sister Sabrina and her hubby Franco were married. The one thing I remembered so vividly from that day was just how amazingly kind and warm their family was to us. Joe, Pam and Sabrina’s father, was constantly asking us if we needed anything or if he could do something for us. He is always smiling… and last Saturday morning it was exactly the same. It was pouring rain when we started our morning coverage at 8 am. Pam arrived home from the salon with a huge smile and an attitude of “I don’t care if it’s raining this is going to be the most amazing day”. I love that both her and Stephen are so easy going and were completely trusted us with the photo location when their plan to visit Pioneer Village fell through because of the heavy rain and winds. Everything fell into place and we had an amazing day. The rain stopped briefly in the mid afternoon and we went outside to capture some photos with the vintage car they rented. The reception at Paramount was gorgeous – I loved the decor and little hints of Autumn and lots of sparkle. Their Same Day Edit matched their personalities perfectly – it was both fun and upbeat! We know that just as they’ve spent many years together planning for their big day they’ll now have many, many more years ahead of great adventures… cheers to love and laughter!

Yesterday we were honoured to capture and be a part of Marta and Brock’s wedding story. This was a day I had waited 15 months for and knew from our very first meeting that their celebration would be filled (infact, overflowing) with personal touches and details that were important to them. With just 78 guests in attendance each and every one that was there was someone very significant in their lives. The venue they chose was EastDell Estates Winery and the way they described the intimacy of the location we all knew it would fit their personalities perfectly – and it did!
The backstory ~ for those who haven’t been following our blog since before Marta and Brock’s engagement session I’ll just say that it started at Woof Stock in Toronto. The four of them (yes, their Puggles Henry and Buf came too) met me there and then we went to High Park for a picnic. The boys, as Marta and Brock refer to them, are adorable and such a huge part of their lives and of their wedding story. I couldn’t imagine their wedding day without them there. Marta and Brock are fitness and health fanatics – they produce weekly episodes for many viewers on Fitfortwo.tv. It was important to them to ensure that many of the elements of their day were organic, locally sourced and environmentally friendly.
The story ~ Marta and Brock both knew they had to go for a run on the morning of their wedding day. Staying in two nearby hotels in St. Catharines they each went out separately at sunrise to run. Marta ran in a local park and Brock took to the service road. Around noon the rain started to fall ever so lightly. We were already at the vineyard checking out the cabin and outdoor ceremony location. The rains would get heavier at times and then seem to almost stop before starting again. Brock asked me what we thought would be best – to move the ceremony indoors or continue with the outdoor grove location? I knew that they had envisioned their outdoor wedding with sunshine, but most of their guests had umbrellas and even in the rain it would be beautiful, so we continued with plan A. The rains fell, their best man Rob stood behind Marta the entire time holding an umbrella over her and we did our best to keep our cameras dry and lenses free of rain drops. The reading “Falling in Love is like Owning a Dog” was so completely perfect – just like so many other details that were thought out and put into place. Their personalized vows made me teary. Their entire wedding day story is beyond amazing. I could literally write paragraphs here… but their SDE and photos will do a much better job so please enjoy!
The music: About a month ago we first listened to a song by Holley Maher, an artist from New Jersey, now living and recording in Nashville. Immediately we fell in love with her voice. When we found a small excerpt from her song Always Be I knew instantly that it would be the perfect song for Marta and Brock’s SDE. I contacted Holley directly and was sad to find out that the song hadn’t been recorded yet. She was planning on recording it in the coming weeks though as she was finalizing her debut album. I explained to her that we had this amazing couple and told her all about them and their wedding story and she said she’d do her best to get us a copy of the song for Oct. 2nd. On Oct. 1st at 1 pm the song arrived in our inbox. We were ecstatic. We can’t thank Holley enough for doing this for us – it speaks volumes to her personality and we hope you’ll all have a listen to her music. Holley, we adore you and thank you with all our hearts – this SDE would not have been what it is without your amazing song.
The very first time I met Elysia and Matt I could tell the chemistry and connection between them was something very special. We met in LIberty Village at Starbucks back in April 2010 to chat a little about their upcoming wedding day and a lot about them as a couple. I loved how they naturally turned towards each other mid sentence, smiled and then continued on, many times completing each other’s sentences. They laughed while sharing stories about dating and how they met and as time passed their smiles seemed to grow bigger and bigger. I somehow felt like we’d known each other for years instead of just an hour or so. Elysia confessed that she had already been a fan of our work for quite some time and was so excited for it to finally be “her turn”. When we met again a couple months before the wedding they said they were both so excited for their same day edit. We knew they loved soulful songs with powerful lyrics so we chose Hesitate by Steve Moakler (this song is used with permission from Steve Moakler). We’ve loved this song for so long and we were waiting for the perfect couple and the perfect wedding story to use it. I really think we spend more time looking for amazing songs than we do anything else. Music is so important because it becomes the soundtrack to each couple’s wedding story. It was a pleasure shooting alongside Taylor Jackson. We can’t wait to see these two again when their feature film is ready and hear all about their amazing, adventurous honeymoon. I don’t even know where to begin when starting to share the story of Leah and Lorraine except to say that we were completely honoured to meet these incredible women and capture their wedding story. We first met via email over a year ago and a few weeks later we met for tea in Malibu, California. They drove up from their home in San Diego to chat with us about their upcoming destination wedding. We became instant friends! Over the next 12 months we met via Skype to keep up to date on their wedding planning. They had already done a lot of research in order to choose the perfect wedding location and fell completely in love with Juniper Hill Inn in Vermont. Yes, it was on the opposite side of the country! They wanted something quaint, beautiful and somewhat rustic. The Inn, located in Windsor, Vermont, was absolutely perfect! More that 50 guests came to celebrate with them from all across the country. Their family and friends treated Brian and I like family from the moment we arrived at the Welcome BBQ on Friday evening. We loved their personalized vows, all the little details that they had worked on themselves to add touches of their personalities and their beloved dogs to their special day, the quiet whispers between them and how their father-daughter dance turned into a big circle of immediate family members from both sides all joined together on the outdoor patio. There were so many amazing moments to capture. The Inn sits atop a mountain with the most breathtaking views. It was simply impossible to fit every amazing moment of their story into a 4 minute hightlight, but we think this piece really sums it up perfectly! Leah and Lorraine, we wish you so much love and a lifetime of happiness as Mrs. and Mrs. **Special thanks to Joelle of East Hill Events and Robert Dean, owner of Juniper Hill Inn, everything was fabulous and your dedication to perfection was evident in every single detail!

Yesterday was the most beautiful November day. The sun shone all day long and made the autumn leaves, still left clinging to the trees, almost sparkle. It really felt more like a late September day and we were fortunate to spend it capturing the wedding story of Heather and James. I’m convinced that when these two are together they make every day feel warm and cozy. We knew from our very first meeting with them many months ago that their wedding story would be very special. When they shared their proposal story with us and told us they had some actual footage from the top of Blackcomb in Whistler we knew we wanted to somehow incorporate that into their Same Day Edit. We love how they both grin from ear to ear when they look at each other and how much they both positively beam when speaking about the other. James is an identical twin and I worried that we wouldn’t be able to tell him and his brother apart, but as long as Heather wasn’t too far away you could definitely tell which one was James – his eyes would sparkle, just like the autumn leaves. I am not sure we’ve ever seen a groom get this emotional at the first sight of his bride. It was beautiful to witness James waiting for Heather at the alter. There were so many fabulous and intimate details that I loved about their day, but my favourite was the fireworks during the reception, which were truly incredible. Unfortunately, they happened after the same day edit was shown, but they will definitely be a special part of their feature film. We were reminded once again last night right after the same day edit why we do what we do. Being the keeper of memories never gets old and our passion for capturing stories about love only gets stronger and stronger.
